छोटी कहानी इन हिंदी माया के दर्शन
एक दिन सुदामा ने श्रीकृष्ण से पूछा, “कन्हा, मैं आपकी माया देखना चाहता हूँ… वह कैसी होती है?” श्रीकृष्ण ने इसे टालने की कोशिश की, लेकिन सुदामा के आग्रह पर, श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, “ठीक है, समय आने पर मैं तुम्हें दिखाऊँगा।”
एक दिन श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, “सुदामा, आओ, हम गोमती में स्नान करने चलें।” दोनों गोमती के किनारे गए, अपने कपड़े उतारे और नदी में प्रवेश किया। श्रीकृष्ण स्नान करके किनारे लौट आए और अपने पीले वस्त्र पहनने लगे। सुदामा ने एक और डुबकी लगाई, तभी श्रीकृष्ण ने उन्हें अपनी माया दिखाई।
सुदामा को लगा कि नदी में बाढ़ आ गई है। वह बहता जा रहा था, किसी तरह किनारे पर रुका। गंगा घाट पर चढ़कर वह चलने लगा। चलते-चलते वह एक गाँव के पास पहुँचा, जहाँ एक मादा हाथी ने उसे फूलों की माला पहनाई। बहुत से लोग इकट्ठा हो गए और बोले, “हमारे देश के राजा का निधन हो गया है। यहाँ की परंपरा है कि राजा की मृत्यु के बाद जिस किसी को मादा हाथी माला पहनाएगी, वही हमारा नया राजा बनेगा। मादा हाथी ने तुम्हें माला पहनाई है, इसलिए अब तुम हमारे राजा हो।”
सुदामा हैरान रह गया, लेकिन वह राजा बन गया और एक राजकुमारी से विवाह भी कर लिया। उनके दो बेटे भी हुए और उनका जीवन खुशी से बीतने लगा। एक दिन सुदामा की पत्नी बीमार हो गई और मर गई। पत्नी की मृत्यु के शोक में सुदामा रोने लगे। राज्य के लोग भी वहाँ पहुँचे और बोले, “राजा जी, मत रोइए। यह तो माया नगरी का नियम है। आपकी पत्नी की चिता में आपको भी प्रवेश करना होगा।”
यह सुनकर सुदामा और जोर से रोने लगे, लेकिन लोगों ने उनकी बात नहीं सुनी। सुदामा ने कहा, “मुझे चिता में जलाने से पहले एक बार स्नान करने दो।” यह सुनकर कुछ लोग सुदामा को नदी पर स्नान करने के लिए ले गए। सुदामा रो रहे थे और उनके हाथ-पैर कांप रहे थे।
आखिरकार उन्होंने एक डुबकी लगाई… और जैसे ही बाहर आए, उन्होंने देखा कि माया नगरी कहीं नहीं थी। किनारे पर श्रीकृष्ण अब भी अपने पीले वस्त्र पहन रहे थे और सुदामा ने एक पूरी दुनिया का अनुभव कर लिया था। सुदामा नदी से बाहर आकर जोर-जोर से रोने लगे। सब कुछ जानते हुए भी श्रीकृष्ण ने अनजान बनने का नाटक करते हुए सुदामा से रोने का कारण पूछा।
सुदामा ने पूरी कहानी सुनाई और पूछा, “यह जो मैं देख रहा हूँ वह सपना है या माया नगरी, जिससे मैं अभी-अभी आया हूँ, वह सपना था?” श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, “यह सत्य है… मैं सत्य हूँ। मुझसे अलग जो कुछ भी है, वह मेरी माया है। जो मुझे हर जगह देखता और महसूस करता है, उसे मेरी माया नहीं छूती। जो श्रीकृष्ण से जुड़ा होता है, वह भ्रमित नहीं होता।”
सुदामा और श्रीकृष्ण की इस कहानी से हमें निम्नलिखित शिक्षाएं मिलती हैं:
- माया का वास्तविकता से भिन्न होना: श्रीकृष्ण की माया से यह समझ में आता है कि भौतिक जगत की घटनाएँ और अनुभव अस्थायी हैं। जो भी सत्य के विपरीत है, वह माया है। सत्य केवल श्रीकृष्ण हैं।
- भक्ति और सच्चे ज्ञान का महत्व: जो व्यक्ति सच्चे मन से भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की भक्ति करता है और हर जगह उन्हें महसूस करता है, उसे माया नहीं छू सकती। भक्ति और सच्चा ज्ञान माया से मुक्त होने का मार्ग है।
- ईश्वर में विश्वास: सुदामा ने जब श्रीकृष्ण से उनकी माया देखने की इच्छा प्रकट की, तो यह दिखाता है कि हमारी जिज्ञासा और हमारी भक्ति हमें ईश्वर के निकट ले जाती है। ईश्वर हमारे जीवन के हर पहलू को समझने में हमारी मदद करते हैं।
- दुःख और सुख का अस्थायित्व: सुदामा के अनुभव से यह समझ में आता है कि जीवन में दुःख और सुख दोनों ही अस्थायी हैं। यह हमें सिखाता है कि हमें किसी भी परिस्थिति में स्थिर और धैर्यवान बने रहना चाहिए।
- ईश्वर का सान्निध्य: भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने सुदामा को माया नगरी में ले जाकर यह दिखाया कि ईश्वर का सान्निध्य हमेशा हमारे साथ होता है। हमें इसे समझने और अनुभव करने की आवश्यकता है।
- आध्यात्मिक जागरूकता: इस कहानी से यह स्पष्ट होता है कि आध्यात्मिक जागरूकता और ईश्वर के प्रति सच्ची भक्ति ही हमें माया से मुक्त कर सकती है। हमें अपनी आत्मा की आवाज़ सुननी चाहिए और ईश्वर की ओर बढ़ना चाहिए।
- संघर्षों का सामना: सुदामा के अनुभव ने दिखाया कि हमें अपने जीवन के संघर्षों का सामना करना चाहिए और विश्वास रखना चाहिए कि ईश्वर हमारी मदद करेंगे।
इन शिक्षाओं से हम यह समझ सकते हैं कि सच्ची भक्ति, ईश्वर में विश्वास और आध्यात्मिक जागरूकता ही हमें जीवन की माया और संघर्षों से मुक्त कर सकती है।
श्लोक:
वासुदेव सुतं देवं कंस चाणूर मर्दनम्।
देवकी परमानंदं कृष्णं वंदे जगद्गुरुम्॥
हरिः शरणम् हरिः शरणम्॥
Sudama once asked Shri Krishna, “Kanha, I want to see your Maya… how is it?” Shri Krishna tried to avoid it, but on Sudama’s insistence, Shri Krishna said, “Okay, I will tell you when the time comes. One day Krishna said… Sudama, come, let’s go to take a bath in Gomti.
Both of them went to the bank of Gomti, took off their clothes. Both of them entered the river. Shri Krishna returned to the bank after taking a bath, started wearing yellow clothes.… Sudama took another dip and Lord Krishna showed him his Maya.
Sudama felt that the river was flooded. He was being swept away, Sudama somehow stopped at the bank of the ghat. He climbed the ghat and started walking. While walking, he came near the village, there a female elephant garlanded him with flowers. Many people gathered, people said, “The king of our country has died. The rule here is that after the death of the king, whoever the female elephant garlands, he becomes our king. The female elephant has put a garland around your neck, so now you are our king.
Sudama was surprised, he became a king and also married a princess. Two sons were also born, life started passing happily. One day Sudama’s wife fell ill and died. Sudama started crying in the grief of his wife’s separation, people of the kingdom also reached there. They told Sudama, don’t cry, you are our king. Anyway there is nothing to be sad about, you too have to go with the queen. They told him that this is the rule of Mayapuri. Your wife will be burnt in the pyre, you too will have to enter your wife’s pyre. Hearing this Sudama started crying louder but people did not listen. Sudama forgot his wife’s death, his crying also stopped. Now he got lost in his own worries. When people did not listen, Sudama said, let me take a bath before burning in the pyre…’ On this some people took Sudama to the river under guard to take a bath. … Sudama was crying and his hands and legs were trembling.
Finally he took a dip…and as soon as he came out, he saw that Mayanagari was nowhere to be seen. On the bank, Krishna was still wearing his yellow clothes and he had travelled a whole world. Sudama came out of the river and was crying loudly. Knowing everything, Shri Krishna pretended to be unaware and asked Sudama the reason for crying. Sudama told the whole story and asked whether what I am seeing is a dream or the Mayanagari from which I have just come was a dream.
Lord Krishna said, this is the truth…I am the truth. Whatever is different from me is my Maya. The one who sees and feels me everywhere, my Maya does not touch him. The one who is connected to Shri Krishna does not dance…does not get confused.

The story of Sudama and Sri Krishna teaches us the following lessons:
- Maya being different from reality: Sri Krishna’s Maya makes us understand that the events and experiences of the material world are temporary. Whatever is contrary to the truth is Maya. The truth is only Sri Krishna.
- Importance of devotion and true knowledge: A person who worships Lord Krishna with a true heart and feels Him everywhere, cannot be touched by Maya. Devotion and true knowledge is the path to freedom from Maya.
- Faith in God: When Sudama expressed his desire to see Sri Krishna’s Maya, it shows that our curiosity and our devotion brings us closer to God. God helps us understand every aspect of our life.
- Impermanence of sorrow and happiness: Sudama’s experience makes us understand that both sorrow and happiness in life are temporary. It teaches us that we should remain stable and patient in any situation.
- God’s presence: By taking Sudama to Maya Nagari, Lord Krishna showed that God’s presence is always with us. We need to understand and experience this.
- Spiritual Awareness: It is clear from this story that only spiritual awareness and true devotion to God can free us from Maya. We should listen to the voice of our soul and move towards God.
- Facing struggles: Sudama’s experience showed that we should face the struggles of our life and have faith that God will help us.
From these teachings, we can understand that only true devotion, faith in God and spiritual awareness can free us from the Maya and struggles of life.
